MARATHON IN THE PARKS ROAD CLOSURESunday morning, November 17, 2002, Marathon in the Parks will be closing Veirs Mill Road between Twinbrook Parkway and Parklawn Memorial Park from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Only very limited local traffic will be allowed between Randolph Road and Parklawn Memorial Park to reach churches and residences. Aspen Hill Road and Veirs Mill Road is the half-way point of this marathon, where the runners will cross Veirs Mill Road at the intersection with Aspen Hill Road. The organizers suggest this as a great place to gather to support the runners. Since Veirs Mill Road will be closed beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m., spectators are being asked to park at Twinbrook shopping center and walk the half-mile south on Veirs Mill Road to Aspen Hill Road. To access Aspen Hill from the west, use Norbeck/Bel Pre/Georgia. From south of the Beltway, use Georgia Ave or Rockville Pike to Norbeck/Bel Pre/Georgia instead of Connecticut. From the east and south (but north of the Beltway and east of Rock Creek), use Connecticut or Georgia to Aspen Hill Road.
